Unlike the hoax that Top Gear pulled when they said the stig was the former Formual One Champion, Michael Schumacher, it seems that the Stig’s indentity has finally gotten out. His name is Ben Collins, a 35 year old race car driver and stunt man. He has raced in many catagories including Formula Three, GT3, ASCAR, NASCAR and American Le Mans and has appeared in movies such as Quantum of Solace as a stunt double for Daniel Craig. Everything leaked out when he got into a legal battle with the BBC as to whether or not he could reveal that he was the Stig in an upcoming autobiography. The Sunday Times of London broke the news of Collins being the Stig after seeing financial reports from Collins’ own company, Collins Autosport. They noticed he got a substancial bump in pay in 2003 from “driving services provided for the BBC, mainly in the Top Gear programme”, 2003 being the same year that the last Stig went away.
For one, I’m pretty bummed that good ol Stig’s identity is out, especially since last time that happened the previous Stig got canned. Kudos to you, Mr. Collins, for all your amazing drives and I’m sure you’ll land on your feet!
What the hell is going on?! In the past 3 months NINE 458 Italias have been destroyed. This definitely needs to stop! Whoever buys one of these should have to do some sort of driving test or something. Either that, or this car is cursed. Which I really hope isn’t the case, cause I already cut a kidney out for one.
A while back we showed you the first imgaes of the Porsche 918 Spyder. Now for the first time we get to see it actually moving, which is nice to see it can do since it’s only $630,000 (gulp). Hell, for that much money I think it should fly as well, but that might be asking too much. The car will start production, for the lucky few who can get it, next year.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, the Ferrari 458 Italia is quite definitely one of the sexiest, most amazing cars on the road today. And then this tool got his mitts on one and look what happens. WARNING: this video is not for the faint of heart.
Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima takes his 897 horsepower, 654 pound-feet of torque Suzuki SX4 up the hill for a little drive. His nickname might be monster, but the car he drives definitely proves to be one too. Check out the vid, and peep those cliffs towards the top. No thanks!
Being coined the fastest movie ever made in 3D at 162mph, this video is an amazing look at what the SLS can do with some EPIC filming to go with it. PEEP IT!
BMW art cars have been around since 1975 and some of the most well know artists in the world have given their personal touch to either a BMW race or production model. Check out the video for a lil history!
Daaaaaamn, vato! Someone got a little too happy on the ‘ol switches during this event. I love the fact that everyone is giving the guy props after he turns the car into a pancake. Priceless.
Two perfect examples of how talented some drivers are out there. Besides the massive butt clenching I would be subjected to, the Depends adult diper sponsorship (must have) and possibility of flying off a cliff into the middle of nowhere, this looks like fun.
We've all been waiting for Gymkhana 4 about 30 minutes after Gymkhana 3's initial multiple viewings last year. This video does not only not disappoint- it sets the bar for awesome. Movie sets? Check. Big Foot? Check. Way bigger budget with ridiculous GoPro action? Check. The HOLLYWOOD MEGAMERCIAL...
